Pete Greenwood and his wife, Jackie, are City to City affiliated church planters at Inner West Church, Kensington (VIC), a plant of St Jude's Carlton. We recently caught up with Pete as he shared with us about their vision for the Church.
What are your hopes as a church planter over the next 12 months?
In some ways the hope of a church planter for any year is the same as any person in vocational ministry. We want to see the gospel more firmly rooted in the hearts of Christians, and more gospel seeds planted in the hearts of those who aren’t.
Over the first 12 months of our church’s life God has shaped us into a family of servant missionaries. Starting with 15 people in March ’15, we now have 35 people who love and serve each other and neighbours in 3 community groups with a mission focus. We have seen 3 people come to faith in Christ, with a few more well on the way.
The next 12 months I hope that people will begin to grasp that their discipleship is not just about doing church activities, but seeing Gospel activity at work in every aspect of their life. This will mean that we will be more adept at integrating ourselves into our local neighbourhoods. As this happens my prayer is that we will grow not only in maturity, but in numbers, meaning that we will have 5-6 community groups by this time next year
We’d love you to join us in praying that God will bring spiritual renewal to Kensington and Melbourne's Inner West, and that he would use our church to make disciples who make disciples.
