How can faith flourish in the face of life's challenges?

Kathy Keller, together with Katherine Leary Alsdorf and Cathy Tucker, explore issues around significant life challenges, such as illness, financial strain and death, and how they relate to faith and God’s purposes.

Session One - Cathy tucker

Cathy Tucker opens the Flourishing Faith in Dangerous Places conference and provides some foundations for why the Christian Gospel is dependable in times of trial and suffering. Cathy has served in Christian ministry for nearly 25 years as a wife, mother, church-planter, trainer, chaplain, speaker and Bible teacher.


Session TWO - Katherine Leary Alsdorf

Katherine Leary Alsdorf tells of her varied vocational experience and of her journey of faith in the ups and downs of her career. Katherine is the Founder and Director Emeritus of the Centre for Faith and Work at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York City.



Kathy Keller shares her story of suffering and faith in Christ. Kathy is one of America's best known evangelical writers, thinkers and speakers on women, family and ministry. Raised in the steel city of Pittsburgh, she holds an MA in theology from Gordon Conwell Seminary, where she met her future husband.

Members of the panel discuss suffering from personal experience and a Christian perspective.

Kathy Keller planted Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City with her husband, Tim, in the late 1980s. Kathy still ministers at Redeemer as Assistant Director of Communications.

Jill McGilvray is a Pastoral Care Worker and the author of 'God's Love in Action: Pastoral Care for Everyone'.

Jennifer McLellan is a mother of three children, her youngest son James passed away from leukaemia at the age of 19.

Katrina Roe is an Australian broadcaster, journalist and children’s author. As the host of Hope Mornings, she can be heard each weekday on Hope 103.2 interviewing a fascinating range of guests. Katrina writes about parenting on her blog From Mouths of Babes and contributes to a number of mainstream magazines and websites. Her first picture book Marty’s nut-free Party was published by Wombat Books in 2012 and her next book, Emily Eases her Wheezes released in 2015. Katrina now lives in Sydney with her two young daughters and her journalist husband, Chris.



Cathy Tucker concludes the conference with a summary of the three previous talks and adds her own conclusions to the delegates.
