Applying Grace Matters

"The gospel is not just the ABCs but the A to Z of the Christian life”. So it is vital that we keep working at applying the grace of the gospel deeply to every area of life.

One of the decisive commitments of City to City is that grace must be the heart-beat of all life and ministry, not just the thing that ‘gets you in’ or comes into play in exceptional circumstances.

At the City Lab workshop we’ll be working together to better grasp how to apply this grace to people’s hearts — the core of their being, their deepest desires, motivations, and sometimes not-even-fully-conscious convictions.

As well as applying grace more deeply to people’s hearts, we need to work at applying it widely — to every area of life.

So the City Lab is not just about preaching (though it includes that). It is about every context in which the gospel is spoken and applied to life. Which means it’s perfect for your whole team to engage with together.

The workshop is also designed with an eye to different areas of ministry — chaplaincy, workplace, university ministry, youth and children’s ministry, theological education as well as church and church planting.

On the day, we will watch Tim Keller model this in a sermon (via video).

Andrew Katay (City to City Australia) and Murray Capill (Reformed Theological College) will pop the bonnet and give us a hands-on tutorial in how it works.

And best of all we will pray about and discuss with others how this works out in our different ministry contexts.
