2024 COHORT Intensives

We hold two church planting intensives each year for members of our cohorts. Cohort members participate in both intensives, and they are valuable times of mutual learning, growth, practical planning and prayer.

The 2024 Intensives will be:

  • 19 March (Tuesday) - 21 March (Thursday) in Melbourne

  • 10 September (Tuesday) - 12 September (Thursday) in Sydney

 CHURCH PLANTING COHORTS

Every church plant is different.

They reach different people, in different places, and reflect the different backgrounds, gifts, and stories of those who are planting them.

Some are led by women, some by men, and some by couples.

Some are sent out by bigger churches and share their ethos. Others take a smaller, more grassroots, and “bottom up” approach.

But as Len Tang, the Head of Fuller Seminary’s Church Planting Initiative says, “No one plants alone.”

The figure of the heroic, solitary planter is a myth. There is and must always be a church planting team, alongside which the planter works.

And there should also be a wider network and community around every church plant. A community that prays, supports, resources, and cheers on the plant, sharing its ups and downs.

City to City Australia’s church planting cohorts provide such a community.

Over the course of 11 months, our church planting cohorts provide:

  • Content using a tailor-made Australian version of the world’s best practice Fuller Church Planting Certificate to help planters navigate common challenges and seasons as they join God in mission

  • Community as 6-8 peers share the planting journey together, gathering regularly (either weekly or monthly) via zoom to pray, share, learn, plan, and troubleshoot

  • Coaching from a dedicated CTC Australia facilitator who travels with the cohort to provide guidance, mentoring, a sounding board, and critical perspective for planters in the trenches

Two kinds of people stand to benefit most from CTC Australia’s church planting cohort program:

  1. Church planting residents — ie. ministry leaders who are spending 1-2 years embedded in a sending church context actively preparing to plant

  2. Pioneers in the early stages of planting

If you’re a church planting resident, the cohort program will provide you a framework to anticipate key challenges, tools to help you plan, and a context to reflect on what you’re learning as you begin gathering a team and engaging with your planting context.

If you’re in the early stages of planting, the cohort program will provide you a context in which to experience just-in-time learning and cultivate a spirituality anchored in God’s mission.
